Got an early start to beat the heat. Steep first couple of miles, then a hike through pine trees up to the lookout tower. Decided I would go ahead and do the actual summit (the lookout tower is not the summit). Tried the back side where someone left a ladder, but once you are up there, it's a little dicey getting up to the top. Decided to do the rope climb approach and made it on up. Bugs… LOTS of bugs – wore my head net most of the hike.
