With the 90 degree temperatures in San Diego I decided to bag my 4th Peak in the San Diego County Six Peak Challenge…. Hot Springs Mountain Trail. I started about 8:30 am at a nice 59 degrees and the temp never got above the mid-sixties. This is my second time hiking this trail and it did not disappoint, the views are beautiful pretty much over the entire hike. I have to say this is my favorite hike in San Diego County. You start out at the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation campground ($10 fee) in Warner Springs. The first couple miles are uphill which is a nice challenge, but after that the remainder of the hike to the top is fairly flat with slight uphill sections. The first thing you’ll see at the top is the old lookout tower. From there you hike a short distance (follow pink ribbons) through a narrow trail to the peak. Love this trail and would definitely recommend it.
