We got an early start 7am sharp! We have done this hike before and we remember how tough and challenging the climb was and we knew it was going to be a long but a rewarding hike.

The weather was cool throughout the hike but was much more comfortable then when we did the hike in the spring 2017.  As we made treks along the trail using my Garmin fénix 5 which I uploaded the gpx file of the loop did keep us on track even though a few times we had to back track a bit.

We had a reasonable pace for the first leg of the hike and as we started to really feel the elevation increasing we slowed down a bit but still making good time as we soaked up the amazing views of the forest that surround us.

We rested near Sturtevant Camp and ended up sitting in the big swing for a photo.  At this point, we realized we are doing this tough hike again, but this time a bit faster.  And we knew that sundown would come early but we were determined to keep going now that we were about half way up to Mt. Wilson where we plan to have our first beer as part of our adventure doing the So. Cal. Six Pack of Peaks.

Cheers! We made to the top and even though we were exhausted we still had the strength to enjoy the scenery and enjoy well deserved beer! We rested for about 45 minutes and started our decent down the other side of the mountain.

There were a few obstacles on the trail like down trees both ways in and out but the trail itself was passable with a just a little effort.  We knew we probably would be finishing the last few miles backdown at night.  But with a night light and the Garmin, we found are way out quite easily.

Overall this hike was both challenging and rewarding and was a good way to start our adventure the Six Pack of Peaks!

See you soon for our next adventure.
