I did Sitton with my sister three years ago, and wanted to take advantage of the three day weekend to its fullest, packed up the pup and hit the trail. A bit of a schlep to the trailhead, so we weren't hiking until 7 or so, and this is another one I'd recommend to get to EARLY.

I like this trail; there's a lot of easy up front and then an insane push/scramble at the end. Wished I'd had my poles (don't usually take 'em when the Crosby-dog is in tow, cause I gotta hold the leash), and did a little rump-skiing on the way down.  But the hike is definitely doable!  We encountered 11 other folks on the hike, including three firemen (training or clearing brush, not sure – but THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!).  I get a little addled in the heat, and when I took a picture of a dad and son practicing for Whitney, I managed to flip the phone camera and document my confused face snapping the photo. Uh… You're welcome? 😛

Crosby got pretty hot on the way down, so we found lots of shade and rest. The Candy Store was closed (sad face), so no ice cold water on our return. We wrapped up around 11:30, just in time for lunch and well-earned naps.
