After making our way up the winding road, we made it to the Red Box parking lot at about 7:15 am. The trail head was very easy to find from the parking lot as we started our way up at around 7:25 am. The sun this day was pretty hot, and the skies were clear, sun screen was a must. The first 2 miles of the hike up into the mountain were very gradual, making it for a good easy warm up. Once we hit the steep portion, it quickly became clear that this was not just any easy hike. The steep parts of this hike were probably much steeper than what you would see at any other hike on this challenge. There were parts where you needed to grab onto the rocks and scramble your way up. Once we made it to the peak, we realized…. whoops… its not the peak, so we headed to the peak again from there… but wait… this also isn't the peak… Okay, the next one should be the peak, you can't see anything higher than that point anywhere else. So we headed to the peak finally, and made it to… the next false peak… This happened at least 3 times, until you could finally see the marker, the triangular sign at the top of the real peak, then you knew that was it, and it was. We finally made it to the peak at around 9:00 am and took a quick break and had a light snack before we headed back down. The hike overall was almost 7 miles, and it was over pretty early. But it was still a challenge, This was my first time doing this hike, and I will probably do it again.
