Due to road closures, it took us about 3 hours to get to the trailhead from OC. The trail was in good condition but steep. You will have cover for almost the entire hike. I took my 9-year-old son with me. It was easy to follow directions except the sign was broken where the trail merges with PCT. We spent some time at Little Round Valley and that probably is the only time where the trail wasn't going up. The views from the peak are gorgeous. If the steep climb didn't punish your legs, the downhill certainly will. The last mile or so felt very long and my son almost gave up. Overall, it was a fun hike. I highly recommend a net to avoid the annoying flies and lots of water (or a  filter).
