Started this hike by walking from our campsite to Sunset Vista TH. Beautiful mid 60 degree day. Dry trail with great desert views. Just before you hit the junction there is a nice scramble. No need to panicked just yet though. This is merely a warm up for th hose in fear of heights. With cables and footholds we reached the junction. Took a quick water break and headed up. Now this is where the Wicked Type Two fun begins. Lots of cables, rock scrambling and the inevitable WTF was I thinking moments…After the mighty plank walk it's an easy walk to the summit to join 100 other brave tired souls.

After some high fives, quick selfies and a well deserved solo cup of Moscato(keeping it classy) we started our descent. Made quick work to the junction where we continued onto Hunter Trail. A sigh of relief…well short lived.. as we rounded the corner ,looked up to see that defying gravity would stand between us and the saddle. A few choice words, swing of H2O and up we went. At this point parts of my body were in complete defiance.  But we trudged on and clawed our way to the Saddle. Oh the joy of flat ground. From there it's an interesting steep downhill saunter.

Just a couple of side notes..Sunset faces West (shocker I know) but it is exposed to the sun all day. Bring plenty of water and electrolytes.  I also recommend gloves for the cables. And for the love of god…leave the Tony Hawks at home and invest in some hiking shoes. On the Hunter trail ascending to the saddle there is a section of cables out. The trail is posted about repairs being done. Just use caution.  Once at the saddle you will be on the North side with shade right to the Parking lot..

On the “Wicked Pissah” scale. This Mainer gives it a 10!!
