Afternoon hike in the middle of June, this could’ve gotten ugly fast! Parked at the college and much to my surprise, it was empty! Guess most other people realized this wasn’t the time to hike Mission Peak. That initial climb was pretty bad. Temperatures were only in the 70’s, but you could see the waves of heat reflecting off the hard dirt. Took a breather at the first tree and felt a slight breeze. That was it. That was the hardest part! Even with direct sun most of the way, a nice strong breeze helped moderate the heat and this was not a bad hike at all. Factor in there were very few people, rare for this peak, and it was a great hike! We even continued on the the next peak over, the tallest one there, Mount Allison. Why did we do that? I was hiking with Alison, so she had to climb her mountain!😃
