The Mission Peak trail is mostly a nice, wide trail.  It does narrow and become very steep near the top.  It happened to be a particularly hot day (almost 90 degrees by the end) and there is absolutely no shade on this trail.  We started hiking at 8:30am which was not a minute too soon!  At the start of the trail, we saw turkeys and then continued on among many cows and their calves.  The calves were very close and unafraid!  The rest of the way up was uneventful.  We hadn't seen each in a while so our stories kept us going to the summit.  The only excitement on the way down was when Elaine got stung by a bee… there were quite a few in the area.  We finished at 12:15pm.  All in all a great hike!
