If you’re not in the market for a new favorite hike, don’t do this one because you’ll fall in love! We ditched life’s responsibilities and hit this trail on a sunny Wednesday with temps reaching the low 60s. Our ascent was on the White Cross Trail and it was (mercifully) ice and snow-free. After relishing in the summit sun, we returned via the White Dot Trail whose whole purpose is to unceremoniously dump you off the side of the mountain. That being said, she’s an efficient way back. There is a parking fee ($15) which you can pay at the trailhead. You can also make a reservation if you’re organized like that.

Love the write-up, Katharine! I’m a little jealous of your snow- and ice-free hiking. Most of our trails here in Oregon are still buried in snow, with more still arriving.
Thanks, Jeff! It’s touch and go here with the ice and snow. Some of our areas still have quite a bit but we got lucky with this one. Having a blast with this challenge!
