The hike was GREAT, one of the most beautiful trails I've been on. You travel through so many ecosystems and the dams are really neat. We saw a salamander and a baby rattlesnake in the creek portion of the hike. We ascended using the Gabrielino Trail and descended through Winter Creek to start and stop at Chantry Flat. The parking lot was full before 6:30am so we parked on the road. We went with my parents who are in their mid-50s and good shape and it took us about 8 hours with a good break at the top. Luckily it was very cloudy at the lower elevations keeping the heat down. This is by far the easiest hike on the 6 pack because it doesn't have the high altitude. We would love to go back to these trails and explore this area more.

I love the lower part of the trails, with the shady trees, the old cabins and the babbling creeks.
Thanks for the reminder about the rattler. As temps increase, we will see more and more rattlesnakes out on the trails.
