Mount Baden-Powell was actually in great condition. It was a last minute hike that my husband and I planned on going. Originally we were going to do San Bernardino but due to not hiking in high elevations for a few weeks we decided to do one of the shorter peaks. Little did we know the amount of switchbacks were going to give us an intense workout. Half way through my husband started feeling a little sick which we thought maybe it was elevation sickness but after resting and getting something to eat he felt better to finish. The switchbacks were not as I remembered from the first time I hiked Baden-Powell but it was still fun getting to meet people along the way. When we were getting closer to the top we took a quick break in which we met some people from our home town. We got to the first false summit part and could see how close we were to the top. When we were literally steps away from the actual summit we ran into a couple that are part of our 3H hiking group. We got to talk for a bit and then went on our way. When we reached the top the views were spectacular! Mount Baldy was visible and beautiful. We relaxed and got to chit chat with folks around. We didn't stay too long on the summit because again my husband started to feel ill. Half way down I felt something uncomfortable rubbing on my arms. Turns out I did not put on enough sunscreen and got really sunburned on my arms and face. By the time I got to the car I was as red as a tomato! Lesson learned, it's all about the details. More sunscreen and more water because of the warm weather I started to run low and barely made it to the bottom.
