We decided to hike this using the park rangers guide. We went up the coulter pine trail and came down via the Mitchell Canyon road. It was a difficult climb and the last mile was brutal, we were so glad to go up rather than down on that side. It took us a long time as we stopped to take many pictures and enjoy the bloom and lunch at the summit.
