In the spirit of the 6 Pack of Peaks Challenge, I chose to summit Mount Diablo via the 6 Peaks Loop in the park. This loop takes you up to Mount Olympia, North Summit, Mount Diablo Summit, Eagle Peak, Twin Peaks, and Mitchell Rock. This was a very strenuous but rewarding hike giving me some of the best views of the East Bay I've ever seen. Be prepared to be hiking for a full 8 hour plus day. Trekking poles came in very handy as much of the trail was single track width and topped with gravel. This made going up and down slow going as the trail felt like it would fall away at any moment due to the gravel. Weather was absolutely perfect for a hike like this as it was never too hot and I could not imagine doing this during the typical East Bay Summer day. It was rather windy at the top and at some points on the way down but my fleece jacket that I brought kept me warm. I would definitely do this one again (after ample recovery time haha).
