May 22nd I hike Mount Olympus 8,993 ft, its a 6.7 miles round trip with a 4,278 elevation gain. At almost 2 miles at 6,247ft you will find the only water available a nice creek with some beautiful oak trees that gives a place to rest under the shade. This trail allow to bring your dog (found several beauties, had bad feelings not to have my Chato or Luna) but I'm happy for them because they have a very good home. The elevation gain it's an average of 1,222ft/mile and at the last quarter mile you encounter a rock climb class 3 to the summit and once you are at the summit you will have a 360 degree views over Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Mountains, what really surprised me its that with a 3.5 mile hike you leave the city hectic life, and been in alpine conditions. A beautiful day sunny but not hot at all, I start late (7:30) and was cold, that we have to use jackets, but with the intensive elevation gain you star sweating really quick. In winter conditions this hike has to be to only by experience mountaineers (@theadventurouspedro and his crazy friends @2pack_runs, @emanuelrohss and others) and in summer conditions it's all the opposite HOT. Trail doesn't have signage but is well marked. I definitely enjoy this hike. Highly recommend.
