I hiked Mt. Baldy with my wife and friends yesterday. We started at Manker Flats and went up Ski Hut to the summit and came back via Devil's Backbone. Although it was steep and rough on the way up, we avoided a toe-crunching, knee-grinding descent. Instead we went for the glute- and hamstring-killing ascent. Also, going this way, we got to enjoy a beer at the lodge toward the end of our hike.
