Mount Baldy was a hike I was really looking forward to hiking because I had been excited to use my microspikes and hike in the snow. It was such an awesome hike not just for the snow but because of the memorial held for Sam Kim by the hiking groups 3H and 213. There were over 70 going up!! Amazing! Everyone was split up in separate smaller groups but it was nice to hike with such awesome people and a whole bunch of new friends. When we got to the last .5 miles it was definitely covered in snow. I expected it to be a lot more difficult but I didn't feel it since I was more excited about hiking in the snow. I forgot to wear my sunglasses to avoid the reflection of the snow but luckily it didn't hurt my eyes too much. When I got to the top the groups were sharing food and drinks with all the hikers that reached the summit. The memorial itself was really beautiful. People got to share Sam's story along with memories with Sam. It was truly special. I felt privileged and honored to have been apart of it… Even with the cold weather it only made it that much more awesome.
