I hiked to the trailhead from my car which was parked down near the Icehouse Canyon parking lot. That was about 3.2 miles to the actual trailhead. The trail was an easy trail up to the Devil's Backbone Trail head. This is when the steep nature of the climb begins. It is a narrow trail but not as narrow as Bear Canyon Trail gets as I found out when i took that path back down. Then, walked back to the Icehouse Canyon parking area. That gave me a bit over 18miles. I needed 26.2 miles though because I was using these miles for the virtual Marine Corps Marathon. So, it was back down to the Village, circling around at the Rest Area parking lot a lot of times, and circling around the Icehouse Canyon parking until I logged the 26.2! Finally it was done at about 8p! I should have done the Classic route, but I only learned about that route from some kind souls that donated a beverage for my cause! Thank You to that happy group!
