My group took the suggested route / map offered by the ranger: Summit via Back Creek and Mitchell canyon. It was difficult going up and we were glad we had hiking poles and our sturdy boots.  At the summit, we were thrilled there was a shop to buy a much deserved treat.  Coming down through Juniper Campground, then Deer Flat Road to Mitchell Canyon was very easy compared to the going up.  It took our group of 50 year old women close to the nine hours to do this trail. The views were fantastic! We stopped several times to take photos and simply enjoy nature.
