We started the hike at 10am, later than expected. We did not carry enough layers and forgot the first aid kit. It rained and was foggy as we ascended. Luckily, the rain was not bad and we had one rain coat. We did clockwise as recommended by the trail guide at the visitor center. The trail guide was pretty clear until we reached the Prospector Gap. Instead of taking the North Peak Trail to the Summit Trail, we too the North Peak Trail to the North Peak Road. So we ended up walking another .5 mile up and .5 mile down to the Prospector Gap. We reached the summit around 2:40pm and got 2 bags of Cheetos and an ice cream. The way down was very easy, with the last 2 miles was pretty much flat and we were accompanied with a flowing creek. It was lovely to listen to the flowing water and enjoy the greenery. Definitely a tough hike. I would recommend start earlier, bring layers, cash for the $6 parking lot, and a first aid kit since ascending may be brutal to your feet.
