It was a sunny and 91 degree trailhead start to Mt. Elden. The beginning of the trail is covered with logs and difficult to find. It is better to start on the gravel/dirt road and hike up until the Sunrise trailhead start a ways up the road from the Oldham trailhead. It was a beautiful clear day with views of the mountains and lots of butterflies out on the trail as well as wildflowers blooming. It was hot and dry going up but a storm hit at the summit on Mt. Humphreys and thunder and lightning could be seen over the mountain. It started raining on Mt. Elden and was cold and 68 by the time we headed back down. It was overcast the rest of the afternoon.
