Weekend camping trip at Mt. Pinos Nordic Base started with us making camp around 1:00 PM Saturday and heading out Mt. Pinos around 2:00.  We head out as a group and enjoyed the beautiful stroll up to Mt. Pinos and then decided to go after Sawmill Mountain.  Definitely was fun to hit two high county points in Venura (Pinos) and Kern (Sawmill) in one hike.  It was my first time at Sawmill and was cool to see the large rock cairn at the summit.  When we returned to camp, we grilled up steaks and baked potatoes and s’mores at the camp fire for the evening.  Definitely a fun weekend sleeping under the stars and was nice to have an overnight for one of the peaks for this years challenge, as Pinos is a perfect spot to camp with friends.
