I had a great hike on Mt Sizer Tuesday.  It was a “private showing” of Henry Coe State Park – I didn't see anyone else in the park and there were no other cars in the parking lot at the start or end.

For a hike that has only an 800 foot altitude difference between the start point and the summit, this is quite the workout. Total elevation gain was somewhere around 4,400 feet over about 15 miles.  It also was cold most of the day, ranging from below freezing in the valleys (frost thru mid morning) to upper 40's and windy on the ridges.  Bring extra food and warm clothes just in case things take longer than you planned.

But this is a great park! The trails are well marked and maintained, and the scenery is great. You are in the middle of nowhere, yet only 10-15 miles from civilization.  There were deer tracks and plenty of signs of wild pigs on the hike, plus fall colors and views in every direction.

5 out of 6 down. Next up is finding a time for Rose Peak between the rain and the holidays.
