First time hiking Mt. Volcan.  Started the hike @1:30 PM in 90-degree heat so it was pretty warm but brought plenty of water.  I was fortunate enough for a sun shower towards the top which brought some shade, cool rain, and a nice breeze.  On the way down I took the Five Oaks trail which was very enjoyable until I ran into 2 large rattlesnakes in the middle of the trail…not sure if they were fighting or mating.  They seemed pretty agitated and were not moving much off the trail, so I backtracked to the main trail.  This added an extra mile and a half or so to the hike but worth it to see snakes like this.  All-in-all, a hike I won't forget anytime soon!
