First of the six pack challenge for this new hiker and it was an uphill battle, every pun intended. We had to go via the Santa Anita Canyon trail which is ~3 miles longer and 1,000 more elevation than the Chantry Flats route (which was the one we had based our order of peaks off of…oh well). Hiking group included a baby in a hiking backpack, four other experienced hikers with my partner and myself as novices. The promise of a rootbeer float at the top from the cosmid cafe was 10000% the reason I kept moving. Bragging rights were a distant second.
