What seems to be a day-t0-early-evening-hike became an endless night hike- literally! We started before 8 am and finished around 1 am the following day! It was indeed a tough, long hike but a rewarding one…we were treated to a spectacular views from almost-wilderness-feel to being along side the clouds and walking on a white snow. It was a stormy week but according to the weather forecast, that Saturday's weather was promising…sunny & warmer day. However, when we were about to head back home, the clear sky gave way to a thick cloud (or fog?) making the trail difficult to visualize and a down pour was imminent. We then turned around hoping to meet a samaritan who may, perhaps, give us a ride to where we parked. I believed we've been going around the observatory streets for almost an hour or so seeking help…until we made our way to what is known as one of the staff houses. A certain David kindly answered our plea with restricted limitation (as per employee policy). One of our hikers got sick too. But with a little miracle (if you believe it), such predicament was a blessing in disguise as we found ourselves in awe when the sky became clear of the thick fog, stars and the moon shining bright on us and on the trail. You may even turn off the head lamp and you will still see the trail, that's how bright the moon and the stars were. Just pure amazement and a gift of nature. I was with a great company too. This is 1/6 of the challenge.
