Our group of 5 started hiking from Chantry Flats at around 8:30 am. We had trouble finding parking, because it seemed everyone was out trying to take advantage of the warm weather in late February! The trail was fine, except for a few minor obstacles (foliage blocking, trees fallen over). We took the detour to Sturtevant Falls and then took the trail that led us above the falls afterward. Overall we hiked 15 miles, longer than the 13.5 miles suggested/planned. The extra, last 1.5 miles approaching the summit were particularly strenuous, but we did it! The weather was overall warm.  Obviously, under the shade was quite cool and the temperature at the top and Cosmic Cafe (where we had lunch) was cold enough to warrant a down jacket, but otherwise very pleasant for an extended day hike. We promised our group that this was NOT going to be casual hike, unlike the last time we took a group to do Mt. Wilson in late October, and everyone had a positive attitude throughout! Overall, looong and strenuous at times, but I think it convinced some of our members to do the rest of the mountains!
