We started off with low fog but warm weather hitting the trailhead around 6:30am PTD. The first half was pleasant and well shaded and trail was in excellent condition. We even came upon someone working on the trail. The second half was a little different story. The climb became more drastic and trail became littered with poison ivory overgrowth. Overall the trail was one of the better maintained trails I’ve hiked. I went in comparing this hike with the other hikes on the challenge thinking it should be one of the easier hikes based on total elevation. Boy was I wrong. This turned out to be a very challenging hike and by the afternoon with the sun and bugs beating down on you it was a rather difficult hike.
