Mount Wilson is no joke, although low in elevation this hike was a full day! We did this hike on Valentine’s Day, started at 7am with only a few people at the trailhead heading up. It started to warm up very quickly with the sun in our face as we head up Santa Anita Canyon. Once we reached further into the forest, we were cooled off by shade and a light breeze. After a quick snack break at the remains of Orchard Camp, we continued on. As we approached closer to the top of Mt. Wilson we were met with scars of the bobcat fire from last year. At the top, there was no one around and the cosmic cafe had been closed as well. We rested up and ate lunch and went back down. We finished with 15 miles and 5,000ft elevation gain in almost 8.5 hours.
