I really enjoyed this hike. It was a long weekend, yes. Lots of miles hiked over two days, and we were exhausted at the end of the day Sunday but the trail was beautiful. I loved the greener! I felt like I was in the movie Avatar at times! A mystical feeling while in the lush green plants at some points on the trail. Loved being able to cross a few streams. Not only fun but very good practice for balance. Enjoyed the gradual incline up. Didn't have large step ups to deal with. My knees very thankful! Then getting to Dry Lake at the end of our first day (Saturday) to set up camp – AMAZING. Lots of water in the lake. You walk and walk and then hit a beautiful lake of water! A great reward after a long day! Loved that the rangers were around and aout checking in on us and other campers.  Sunday, we were up early to continue our hike to the summit! It was a cool morning to start and as the sun came thru and we headed up the switchbacks, the winds picked up but the skies remained blue with high clouds. Passed a lot of friendly and encouraging fellow hikers on the trail which was very nice! Wasn't expecting the plane crash memorial but did appreciate it and stopped to spend a lil time.  And then after a few more switchbacks we made it to the top!  An indescribable feeling! I still can't believe me and my husband did it. Windy up there and cold but we were so aw struck by the view and the fact that we did it – we weren't focused on the cold. All those at the summit were in great spirits! Lots of congratulations shared amongst all! Our hike down was good too, but we did hike all the way down to the car which made our day VERY long and hard on us. The last 3 miles I wanted to die my feet hurt so much but we made it. Just past dusk but we made it safe and sound. WE DID IT!

Two days later, I'm still on a hikers high! All the energy, strength, steps taken, weight carried (when backpacking), beautiful views seen, friendly hikers passed, sore and feet, bruised toes and more worth it! A memory made that will last a lifetime!
