I loved this hike. It's definitely my favorite so far of the trails I've experienced. One note, I've seen some things on different websites that claim a low-clearance car can make it on the road from the fire station. I do not advise this. It is an extremely rough road. However, there is some parking to be found that doesn't require going through the really rough part, but then you will have to hike that part of the road.

Anyway, we started at 4:40am and we got to the summit in 3 hours, 42 minutes. Views for days all the way up and we were led by an almost full moon. It was amazing. Great views at the lookout bench, as usual. Then on to the summit. It was a little chilly on exposed sides of the mountain on the way up just because of some wind. But nothing too bad. As long as we kept moving we stayed warm. The descent was pretty much just hot the whole time. We made it back down in 3 hours on the dot. Not very many people on the trail, which was surprising to me since it was a Saturday. But that's one reason I love this trail – not tons of people and beauty everywhere you look.
