Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

My first winter hike at Strawberry Peak on Valentine's Day.  Well, it only got cold due to the intermittent strong wind.  When there was no wind, the weather was nice and I did got hot under the partly sunny day.  Both parking lots at Red Box Picnic Area are open, but it does get filled fast when I arrived at 7:10 am.  At the beginning of the hike, it's a nice level uphill.  You do see the aftermath of the Bob Cat fire destruction.  The middle of the hike starts to get steep both uphill and downhill, but it's not that hard.  The last mile reaching both the false peak and Strawberry Peak, the uphill is steep, but doable.  The view of Los Angeles, the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding mountains are spectacular.  I will go again when the weather is warmer and on a clear day.
