This was the final training hike for my 2021 Mt Whitney trip.  My hiking partner Bob Gagle went with me.  We met the others who would be hiking Mt Whitney with us at the trailhead at 6:00am.  My hiking friend Sara brought her husband along.  Unfortunately he had given blood the day before.  Being a pint low he found it difficult to get enough oxygen to his muscles as we climbed this the highest peak in SoCal.  The rest of us forged on, and Sara stayed with her husband, and we thought he might not make it.  The weather was great, so we had a pleasant hike to the summit.  After waiting about 45 minutes, Sara and her husband finally made it.  We all started down and headed to the west side of the Dry Lake loop.  Sara's husband did much better going downhill.  We finished at about 6:30 pm, and felt ready to take on Mt. Whitney in early August!
