This was my first time hiking up to Mount Baldy/San Antonio. I hiked the summit up from the firebreaks, Devil's Backbone Trail. After I reach the summit I descended down to Baldy Bowl Trail to the Sierra Club Ski Hut and back to Manker Flat. I started at 8:00 am and I finally reach to my car at 6:30 pm. It was a brutal, challenging hike. The Devil's Backbone Trail was scary but I did not let my fear stop me. I made it through and I reach the summit. I hike at my pace. I took a lot of breaks and enjoyed the spectacular views. I spent an hour on the summit relaxing, eating lunch, enjoying the magnificent views and being in a state of peace. Descending down the Baldy Bowl Trail was very challenging due to the steep trails. I saw a lot of hikers falling. I slip just once but I did not fall thanks to my trekking poles. I was so exhausted when I reached to my car. I was so satisfied of my accomplishment of ascending Mount Baldy. Will I ever go again? Probably not. The only way I will hike up to Mount Baldy again is with hiking with someone and this time I will ascend up Baldy Bowl Trail to the summit and then descend down the Devil's Backbone Trail.
