Had a permit to do San Gorgonio camping overnight at Dollar Lake. By the time we got up to the summit the Apple fire was billowing in the distance creating an ominous scene. When we got back to camp we decided to pack up and just hike out. It made for a long day hike but it was the right decision as the whole area is now closed. South Fork trail is so much easier than Vivian Creek.
