First time to hike High Point Palomar, elevation 6123 ft. Started the hike for 2 miles on Oak Grove Trailhead, followed by 4 miles of dirt road via High Point Road. The last mile up on Palomar Divide Road is a scenic walk up to the summit where the fire tower is. Beautiful views of Palomar Mountain Park, the Observatory, San Jacinto, Taquitz Peak, Strawberry Peak etc. Beautiful day but windy and cold. Best to hike it now and spring time for its all uphill, hardly any shade on the service road.
