Cucamonga was the 2nd of my “6 Pack of Peaks” & I was excited for my first 8000+ altitude hike. I made such good time that I decided to try a short cut from the Minor (upper) Saddle straight up to Big Horn Peak. Not a well known or travelled trail, but still travelled by other experienced hikers (like Sonia & Mira). It's a steep climb (about .5 miles & 750′ elevation) but a great short cut if you want to catch 1 or 2 extra peeks). You can loose the trail while climbing but if you stick with the ridge or to the right of it, you will pick it up again. I then hiked from Big Horn to Ontario peak and then back to Icehouse Saddle Junction via Kelly Camp and then back to the Icehouse Canyon Trail Head. All toll about 16 – 17 miles depending which app you use.
