Ontario Peak…Memorial Day Hike!

Trailhead:

Icehouse Canyon

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Trail in good condition

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

Bugs were not too bad

Snow:

Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

Generally snow free except for a few patches of slushy snow near Kelly Camp & near the peak. Micro spikes not needed; trail shoes should just be fine. Walking poles came handy especially trekking through the ‘rocky road' & slushy snow. It was sunny all day; long sleeves dry-fit shirt, sweat-wicking running leggings, light neck gaiter (dually used for cold air & as a mask), and a light jacket worn mostly at the very beginning & during rest stops (I get cold easily when not moving). It was a very fine day for hiking!
