This is my very first year doing this challenge. My girlfriend and I are taking the challenge together and Mount Wilson was first on the list and here's my story on my first challenge. We started out at Chantry Flats trailhead and it was a perfect day for a hike.

After 3 miles we made it to the Spruce Grove campground and were feeling great. The hike there was mild and we were enjoying the scenery around us so much. Passing cabins, hearing water and seeing some amazing rock forms. We ventured on after a few breaks.

The zig zags to the top of the Mountian were really strenuous and not being used to the altitude I got weary fast. But I made it to the tippy top!! The Breathtaking view was worth the shakiness my legs were feeling. We reached the top around 2pm after starting at 815am. So suffice to say we need to work on our pace.

The real challenge was on the way down. I'm a city gal. Been so my entire life. I've never even been camping. NEVER. So we did all this research on how to get to the top of the mountain but not how to get down. I'm under the assumption that there was a way down that wasn't the 7 miles we hiked to get up. The words toll road and winter creek were tosses around with another couple we had seen at the top. But when my girlfriend and I tried to find it, well, we couldn't. So we hiked down the same way we went up. At 445pm we still hadn't reached the camp ground and were losing daylight fast. A few panic attacks happened on my way down. Again, city girl! Darkness in a mountain, wild animals, strange noises in the dark, never been experienced. Luckily my girlfriend didn't coddle my panic attacks (probably 8 or 10 total) and I knew I had to pull myself together and keep moving. And I did. But as I said, that was the real challenge.

Body, mind, and soul, were challenged on this hike and it was an unforgettable experience. Going for the glory of finishing all 6!
