Got up early on 9/15 to summit San Bernardino with my friend who shared in my journey summiting my very first #SixPackOfPeaks! Got to the trailhead (via a Subaru—don't try with anything lower) by 6:15 AM and there were a good chunk of folks already gearing up for the long day hike.

The trail was well maintained and well-traveled all the way up to the peak, but not overly crowded like many of the hikes in the Angeles forest. Starting on the trail the bugs were annoying, but after a certain elevation, you get more trees and bushes and fewer bugs.

We made decent time up to the peak, where it was quite cold, so bring extra layers and possibly gloves. Even for a day hike. If you're making it a backpacking trip be prepared for wind.

The most crowded part of the trail was up at the peak which we hit by 10:30 AM with lots of folks waiting to grab a pic with the peak sign. Thanks to whoever brought another back up the mountain. And the alien prop. Fun was had by all and even Big Bear lake was visible from the top. Incredible.

On the way down, we filled up at the still running stream as I killed my first three liters. If you hike this peak, be sure to bring enough water. I also had fun looking at the various types of trees—many twisting is all sorts of directions throughout this trail.

Eating and snacking along the way helped us keep pace until the last mile when my knee began locking up. Pushed through and still finished.

Great day. Great views. Great Friends. Glad to finish off my six-pack of peaks with this one.
