Tough hike! We left early- 6am – for the hour-long drive from Phoenix. We parked near the restrooms, just down the hill from the trailhead and other parking. Hunter trail is shorter, but more difficult perhaps than the Sunset Vista Trail. No dogs allowed. Wonderfully quiet, though we could hear and see the traffic on the I-10. It's off Exit 219. Take $7 cash for the self-service entry fee to this state park. If you're tall or short, this hike is especially challenging due to the cables and steep grade climbing up. It was odd to go down from the saddle, but soon we were climbing again. Grateful for the cables and handholds in the natural rock. 360-degree views from the peak. Challenging but worth it! Bring your patience and masks. Tight spaces mean one-way traffic. Don't go if you're afraid of heights.
