Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

February 17th I started out on my second hike for Six Pack of Peaks: New England on the Cog Rail Trail up to Mount Washington Summit. The Trail had been well broken out after recent snowfalls by snowshoes and skiers. Trail was well packed down but required snowshoes which I just bought and needed to break in. Hike was done at daybreak under overcast skies, snow and strong winds were expected at the summit. Definitely a perfect day for my summit.

The hike was challenging as it was my first successful winter summit hike up Mount Washington in the winter. I had some views on occasion when clouds would break at the summit. Temps were very low and winds were picking up so didn’t stay up for very long. Definitely was an amazing experience and it was worth every step. Definitely recommend this hike to others! Mount Washington doesn’t disappoint!
