I didn't know what to expect after the horrible wild fires scorched the area, but the hike to San Bernardino Peak still had so much beauty.  Prickly Poppies were blooming everywhere and it almost felt like they were the bouquets at a memorial for the burned trees.  I usually hike in shorts but pants were very helpful in keeping some of that ash and dirt out of my boots and off my skin.  Since we were backpacking we took a long break at camp before we went to the summit and it was so quiet and glorious at the top.  Many beautiful trees still stood tall and the green was abundant around the summit.  The water at Limber Pine creek was still flowing enough to use my gravity filter. We hiked back to the car on Saturday and passed over 20 people.  We were grateful that we were able to summit not on a Saturday. Overall we had such an amazing time and I am so glad I got to return to one of my favorite peaks!
