Great hike up to the lookout tower. We drove up from Phoenix and found plenty of parking. The trail is close to AZ 89A and I-17. The hike took about 4 hours, and my Fitbit registered 291 flights of stairs! More than 22,000 steps. Not sure why the sign says it's 2.5 miles when my Fitbit says it's almost 9 miles. ? The temperature was perfect – about 40 degrees when we started, and 60 when we finished. Very light traffic. The best part were the quaking aspens near the top of the mountain. Steep climb with switchbacks, some loose rocks, and boulders. It was a workout!
