June 8,2025 – My friend and I hiked Mount Umunhum today, and it couldn’t have been better.
We started around 10 AM with perfect weather and were met with blooming yellow and purple wildflowers, plus dandelions as big as baseballs. The trail was peaceful, with stunning views all the way up.
At the summit, we reached “the cube”—the old Cold War radar tower—and took a moment to learn about its history. It once scanned the skies for threats during a tense chapter in U.S. history. We enjoyed a hot meal at the top while soaking in the incredible views.
The whole hike took about 3 hours, and we loved every minute of it.
