Snowfields to cross – could be difficult

We started with very chilly (no… cold) temperatures in the 30s. Beautiful crisp and clear day. Beware of chunks of ice and snow falling from trees! Also, take extra precaution on some of the climb near the summit, we hit some black ice and a very slippery section of snow that had slightly melted and then froze over again. There are two fairly short sections, but it was very slippery and we had a couple of falls. The Conejos Trail was very nice and pretty in the beginning with some patches of snow, but quickly turned very rocky and muddy on the way down. We were basically walking in a rocky stream the majority of the way down, followed by a lot of slippery mud. But it was beautiful as always!
