Good Friday trek.
Started in foggy and overcast conditions that gave way to the sun as the day progressed.
The McGorkle trail was closed at one point forcing a detour and adding to the mileage. Figuring out an alternate route was challenging as there was no cell service and the map we picked up at the trailhead was of limited use. But we managed.
Ultimately we were rewarded with beautiful vistas which my friend felt were very reminiscent of the hiking parts of the Dolemites.
The descriptions are correct. It’s a challenging hike. There are some very steep parts and limited shade. But in return for the effort you’ll be rewarded with some great views and a true sense of accomplishment.
