18 of 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Met up with the Taco Slayer and his lovely wife (follow them @thetacoslayers), eventually met Dave along the way, and after the first mile and change of steep switchbacks, a fairly easy climb, a bit of drudgery within a mile of the summit, but once the summit neared, I zoom zoomed it to get it!
The Taco Slayer cooked up some carne asada and smoked sausage for tacos, which were AMAZING!
AND!
Before I started the “Original Six”, I asked the Facebook SoCal Hikers group for suggestions on summit beers. Someone suggested “Peakbagger” from Kern River, and I found it shortly thereafter, but only in growler form, which only lasts so long, so I had that on Memorial Day on a hike in San Diego.
Couldn't find “Peakbagger” anywhere for the next few weeks, resigned myself to having something else- even got something from Brewcaipa in Yucaipa, which is not too far away…
BUT THEN!
I FOUND IT!
THE DAY BEFORE THIS HIKE!
And I got two growlers of it and shared with the Taco Slayer and it was GLORIOUS! I was weeping invisible tears of joy, because I'm a huge dork.
The Taco Slayer recommended a local place for tacos afterward, which were delicious as well.
What's next? #whitneyiscalling
