The dirt road leading up to the trailhead is getting worn. Low-clearance vehicles not recommended. Get to the trailhead parking before 6 a.m. on the weekend or else you'll be walking up to it because it does get busy.
The 16 mile hike is beautiful with lots of cover for most of it. But even on warm days I would recommend wearing pants as the chaparral is growing into the trail and can give you some good scratches on your legs.
The weather on this day was clear and cool with a small breeze – perfect weather for hiking. No trash that I could find on the trail, so the people using it are being good stewards, which is good considering what day hikers are doing to popular trails at lower elevations.
All in all, a great hike. This is one of my favorites in SoCal!
