Intermittent snow – not hard to cross

This was my FAVORITE peak of the six pack. We started the climb early in the morning – 6 AM and soon it felt like we had ascended above the clouds. The initial part of the hike was a climb – not difficult but steady. Then, there was a large, flat area filled with deep green bushes – the trail at this point became a bit narrow but the path was clear. There were yellow flowers that were blooming along the trail in the beginning.

There were a few moments of snow on the trail but everything was passable and not dangerous. The climb up felt more gradual and forgiving than Mount Baldy – parts were ascending but then it was met with parts of the path that were flat and long.

One member of our group who hiked ahead of the others was able to sit at the junction where the path verges – if you kept walking on the main path you would be headed straight for Mount Gorgonio. He helped us navigate the turn to the right (the path wasn't well marked) that took us to the top of San Bernardino.

This was a beautiful hike and one that I hope that I can do again – it was so magical!
